  1. Reason for Policy

 

Golf NL is responsible to grow participation and product awareness through its programs, services and initiatives that encourages excellence in the game. Serving as the governing body for golf in the province, while respecting the history, traditions, and integrity of the game.

 

Golf NL is committed to creating a sport environment in which all individuals are treated with respect and dignity. Coaches and players have a responsibility to create a sporting environment that is free of harassment, abuse, bullying, and neglect.

  1. Policy Statement

 

Golf NL will require that all coaches and officials involved in the Provincial Development team program and participating in amateur golf have completed the online Respect in Sport certification.

  1. Scope

 

A. The policy applies to coaches, officials and volunteers registered or identified on an

official sport roster under the jurisdiction of Golf NL.

 

B. The Rule of Two states that there will always be a combination of two coaches with an athlete, a coach and parent with an athlete, two athletes with a coach, two officials with an athlete, two athletes with an official and/or coach, when in a potentially vulnerable situation.

 

C. This rule serves to protect coaches, officials, volunteers and athletes in potentially vulnerable situations by ensuring that more than one individual is present.

 

D. A coach official, volunteer and athlete will ensure the rule of two and adhere to common sense approaching when meeting to discuss and/or address issues on or off the field of play.

 

 

  1. Procedures

The Executive Director will have the administrative access to Golf Canada’s database to oversee functions such as report generation and monitoring.

  1. Enforcement

 

Non-compliance with this policy may result in further discipline as determined by the Board of Directors or in accordance with the policy.
